The focus ring has a variable magnification ring up to 16 power magnification. The tube is colored gloss black with the markings ‘TELESCOPE SIGHTING NO 9 MARK III, O S 877 G.A. 1944 No 43'
The No 9 Mark III telescope was used by the British and Australian Army and Navy heavy long range artillery units during the Second World War for coastal defense installations.

This box held a telescope (OS 877 G.A.) manufactured at OS in 1944.

Considering the year of construction, the condition of this telescope is excellent. It gives a very clear image, and all settings still work properly.
