The Mauser-Vergueiro was a Portuguese bolt action rifle designed by José Alberto Vergueiro in 1904. Vergueiro was an officer in the Portuguese army. He used the Mauser 98, Gewehr 1888 and Mannlicher–Schönauer. The weapons were produced in Germany at Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken Aktiengesellschaft.
After the Vergueiro, as the standard weapon of the Portuguese army, was replaced by the Kar98k most are rechambered in 7.92x57mm instead of the original Vergueiro 6.5x58mm.
This Vergueiro M.1904 is, however, in original condition.
