1930 Citroën AC4 Type lll Berline
A very nice a very nice car which, as a civil car, fully fits in the WW-II period
The Citroën C4 and the Citroën C6 are cars produced by the French car manufacturer Citroën from 1928 to 1932
The Citroën Type AC4 was launched in 1928 at the Paris Motor Show. The AC4 was available in many different body styles including Berline Luxe, Conduite Interieure Luxe, Familiale Luxe, 2- & 4-Seater Cabriolet Decapotable, 2- & 4-Seater Faux Cabriolet, Torpedoes and Taxi.
By the time the production of the “C4” and “C6” was stopped 4 years after their launch, more than 260,000 units had rolled off the production lines. A nice result for cars that very satisfied their owners!
This Citroën was imported in The Netherlands from France in 1982 and, according to the shield on the dashboard, it was initially delivered to the school’s master, Mr Lucien Chanot, living in Artis suf Aube. It survived WW-II. However, the exact history will remain unknown it must be an interesting one!
The Citroën AC4 III Saloon is an older restoration but in good and nice condition.
After a long standstill, the vehicle was partially overhauled by the current owner in 2016. The technology was brought up to date. The engine, gearbox, brakes, and suspension have no discernible defects. The previously reconditioned body is still in excellent condition. The paintwork was locally reapplied. The interior is neat and tidy. The chrome work is in neat condition.
For the rest: photos and description speak for themselves; a very nice car which fully fits in the WW-II period!
The Type AC 4 (above) was launched in 1928 in the Paris Salon together with the six-cylinder AC 6, Both shared similar styling, albeit that the AC 6 had a longer bonnet than its four cylinder. The AC 4 was available in a variety of body styles including Berline Luxe, Conduite Interieure Luxe, Familiale Luxe, 2 & 4 seat Cabriolet Decapotable, 2 & 4 seat Faux Cabriolet, Torpédos and Taxi. The AC 6 was also available as a Coupé de Ville.
In 1929, both vehicles were modified and renamed C4 and C6 and with a number of further modifications remained in production until 1932. In 1930, the C4 III was introduced with an increased top speed of 90 kph while the C6F had a top speed of 105 kph and was fitted with “Moteur Flottant” flexible engine mountings. In 1931 the C4 III was superseded by the C4F also fitted with the “Moteur Flottant” mountings and an improved version of the C6 – the C6F “CGL” was also launched. In 1932, the C4G with an engine of 1 767cm3 developing 32 bhp @ 2700 rpm was launched and the C6G was also launched with an increased engine capacity of 2 650 cm3 developing 50 bhp @ 2700 rpm.
The Citroën C4 and C6 models were designed to replace the Citroën Type A 10 hp and Citroën Type B model family cars. The styling of the two models was said to be heavily influenced by American counterparts of the same time period, however in France, the new model was considered just that: new.
The traditional grill styles of previous Citroën models were abandoned and a sleeker, flatter grill was used. There were numerous options in terms of body styles, including a particularly popular commercial line. These nameplates were later used for the Citroën C4 and the Citroën C6 in the 21st century, although being classified into the different class. Sedan delivery and coupe utility vehicles were also produced under the Type AC4 index, in the basis of these vehicles, but were eventually replaced by the Citroen Type 23 trucks.

It is a great car for reenactors or movie companies who want to show the civilian side of WW2
